THOUGHTS FROM THE CELLAR DOOR
We certainly have had some cold mornings this winter. Rest assured, we’re on the job early, so we have a nice fire going by the time our first visitors arrive at the cellar door!
As we all know, the view from the cellar door is fantastic at any time, but recently we’ve also been enjoying some sensational winter sunsets!
Our 2022 Fiano and our 2021 Barbera have been very popular at the cellar door over recent months, and we’re almost out of our 2022 Prosecco and 2022 Pinot Grigio, so we’ll be releasing our 2023 vintages of both very shortly.
We bottled our 2022 red wines some 6 weeks ago and are just waiting for them to settle in the bottle. When we’re happy with them, we’ll be releasing our 2022 Montepulciano, but our other reds will have to wait as we still have stock of our 2021 Sangiovese, Marco and Barbera!
Our little extension to the cellar door has taken a back seat due to Harvest and then our bottling program, but we hope to lay our new floor in the next few weeks, so the cellar door may look a little different the next time you visit.
See you at the Cellar Door!

A word from our Winemaker
The buzz and whir of the winery has been replaced by frosty, early morning murmurings in the vineyard as the vines are carefully tended to for their annual ‘haircut’ in preparation for the next Vintage. I love this seasonal cycle and the anticipation it brings with it. What we may face is unknown, but face it we will. Rejoicing in the perfect years, shouldering in on the more challenging, ‘roll with the punches’ as they say. Predictions are for warm and dry conditions but Mother Nature will no doubt decide what we get in the end. In the meantime the secateurs are busy clearing out the old and making way for the new, and in a few months time the new Vintage will burst with vigor and the buzz and whir of the winery will kick in once more!

Viticulture Report - News From Among The Vines
It’s Winter already and there’s a lot going on in the vineyard. Freezing mornings with a lot of massive frost events and temperatures as low as -6 have seen the vines go into full dormancy.
Pruning is in full swing with Barbera, Tempranillo, Shiraz and Vermentino all complete. This year, a combination approach to pruning has been implemented, whereby we’re cane pruning in a select parcel of Barbera, Prosecco and Montipulciano. This process is targeting a lift in the already high quality fruit to create more intensive flavours and overall wine balance. Pruning will be completed by the last week of August.
Following that, Winter fertiliser programs will commence late August and will focus on the soil balance. Being a dryer winter, soil moisture levels are low, and in seasons like this, irrigation is required to fill the soil profile to have moisture available to the vine at bud burst. Looking at the way winter is progressing, bud burst is expected to be early this year, so we can all look forward to that!always exciting.
