We're celebrating Alira Prosecco's award show results
We’re proud to announce that our “Alira” Prosecco has taken out two Silver Medals recently at both the 2019 NSW Small Winemakers Wine Show and the local Mudgee Wine Show. This is a great result for a wine that in its first year of release.
Both of these events have recognised a number of our other wines too with the following medals:
NSW Small Winemakers Wine Show: In addition to “Alira’s” Silver we also took home Silver Medals for our 2019 releases of our very popular Fiano, Pinot Grigio and Rosé.
Mudgee Wine Show: As mentioned above, Silver for Alira Prosecco and Bronze for our '18 Vermentino, '19 Fiano '19 Pinot Grigio, '19 Rosé, '17 Barbera and '16 Sangiovese.
Congratulations to all of our team for helping us grow our boutique, single vineyard winery and share our beautiful wines with our clients, followers, stockists and visitors to our beautiful Mudgee Cellar Door.
Australian Single Vineyard Wine Show 2019 results
We are very proud to be a single source vineyard. We grow all of the varietals from which we make our wine at our Mudgee vineyard. Nothing is sourced from outside of our vineyard or the region.
We are happy to share that we enjoyed some success at the 2019 Australia Single Vineyard Wine Show this year and are grateful for all of the work put in by our team to achieve this.

2016 Barbera makes Wine Selectors top 50 Wines 2018
We are humbled and grateful that our 2016 Barbera was recognised by The Wine Selector Magazine as one of their top 50 wines in 2018.
Journalist Matt White wrote a glowing review which is as follows:
"First Ridge are dedicated to showcasing Italian varietals grown in their Mudgee vineyard and we think their Barbera is a benchmark for the region. Medium to deep red in the glass, their 2016 vintage features a beautiful nose displaying cherry and current perfume. The palate is generous, dark and brooding, as you'd expect from a classic expression of the variety, with a massive core of dark fruit, prune and black olive and rich assertive tannins".
Although the 2016 Barbera is likely to sell out in the not too distant future, our 2017 and 2018 vintages are just as promising and delicious.
We hope those of you who have purchased a bottle or two have enjoyed it as much as we have enjoyed making it.
